How many web pages do you think actually exist on the Internet?

As far as I know, there is no way to figure out exactly how many web pages exist on the internet. However, when you go on an internet search engine (I'll use http://www.google.com for my examples) and type in a search, in the top right corner just above the links to the pages there is a note that will say "1-10 of about (insert number)." That is the approximate number of pages that mention your search word. Results include news stories, images, ads, book excerpts, etc.

It can be interesting to see just how many pages any range of topics might have about them.

A search simply for the letter "a" results in ~20,950,000,000 hits.
