Ways to Meet You Daily Water Needs Without Drinking Water

I'm sure we've all seen those people who walk around with a 10 gallon jug of water. They tout it around swearing they drink at least one of them a day and preach to everyone they come in contact with about the importance of hydration health. I hate those people. I hate them because I know they're right yet I just can't get it into my head for some reason. I hate them because they can down ungodly amounts of water with ease while I can barely stomach one. Water is just so...boring. Boring, yet necessary. So, here are some tips on getting your daily water intake without actually drinking it.
Before we can talk about hydration options, we need to figure out how many ounces of water we need a day. Well, the answer is that it is different for everyone. A simple trick can help you figure it out. Take you weight and divide it in half. That's you're needed ounce intake. For example, a 130 lb. woman needs to drink 6.5 oz. of water a day.
Water, obviously, is the best hydrator, but this article is for people who dislike water. So, aside from plain water, here are some options for hydrating yourself:
- Drink mixes like crystal light
- Juices
- Smoothies
- Soup
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Popsicles
- Tea
- Coffee
The following drinks will actually dehydrate you, meaning you'll need to drink even more water to compensate:
- Caffeinated soft-drinks
- Alcoholic drinks
- Milk
One way to tell if you are getting enough water is to check your urine. If it is clear to pale yellow in color, you're doing okay. Also, you should be urinating every 2-3 hours during the day.

I hate drinking water, too. It just doesn't taste good. But I don't think that pure water is the best way to re-hydrate. When your child is dehydrated, as from the stomach flu, doctors recommend liquids high in electrolytes, not just ordinary water.
I love putting Crystal Light in my water. There are some other great powders that make water taste great. One of my favorites is EmergenC. But I think you are only supposed to have a few a day because it is loaded with vitamins and other good stuff. Wouldn't want to over-do it.
